I have owned and operated Riverside Marketing since 2003. I primarily market eBooks through my websites. Basically I’m a retired sailor making a difference on the internet. Sometimes I have to fall back on my military training to accomplish a task. I was a navigator when I served in the Navy, so I pretty much know my way around, however the internet is different. Instead of navigating by the stars you must spin a web. That is where my military training comes in. You don’t have to be a genius to have common sense and realize that you are in another world and things are done differently, still it is all relative. Just like I determine time, speed and distance to arrive at a destination, the same rule applies on the web. The problem most people have is they don’t know where to find the information. That is not a dilemma for me, I have learned to be resourceful; if I don’t have a solution to a problem, I will search until I do. Aboard ship the majority of my time was spent on the bridge, where I would navigate the ship and brief the Captain. The Captain would always ask questions like; what time is it, brief me on the weather, are we on time, what is our last fixed position, recommended course to avoid contact(another vessel), and so on. I usually would have the answers to his questions, but, you know there is always that chance when you may not have the answer. What do you do then? This is where you become dedicated and fully engage yourself and say I don’t know, but I will find out! I realize everyone doesn’t come from the same background, but you can take your same principles and apply them to other interest in your life, provided they are good working principles. My gratification comes from helping others. I hope everyone’s dreams come true, but remember you have work to do.
